Frequently asked questions
If you have a question which I haven’t addressed here please just get in touch, I’m always happy to help.
-
I work with children and young people aged 5 to 21 years old, offering Play Therapy for younger children and Psychotherapy for teens and young adults. My approach is always tailored to the developmental stage and individual needs of the young person.
-
Play therapy sessions are child-led, which means your child can explore their feelings at their own pace through play, art, storytelling or other creative activities. I provide a safe, supportive space where they can express themselves without needing to find the right words.
Over time, this helps children process difficult emotions, build resilience, and grow in confidence.
-
In most cases, therapy sessions are held one-to-one with the child or young person to help build trust and a strong therapeutic relationship.
However, I always begin with a conversation with parents or carers to make sure you feel comfortable and informed about the process, and we’ll stay in close contact throughout your child’s therapy journey.
-
Therapy can support a wide range of emotional and behavioural challenges, including anxiety, low mood, self-esteem issues, grief, family separation, school difficulties, and past trauma.
Sometimes, children and young people just need a safe space to make sense of what they’re feeling - therapy offers that space, without judgement.
-
Every child or young person is different, so there’s no set number of sessions. Some may benefit from short-term therapy, while others may need longer-term support.
We’ll regularly review progress together to make sure the support continues to meet their needs.
